Blogmas Day 22 | Glossybox Advent Day 13-21
It's time for another Glossybox Advent Calendar update! This time I'm going to be sharing what was behind doors 13-21! I honestly can't believe how close we are to Christmas Day, this month has felt like the longest yet shortest one ever and it doesn't feel real. So let's take a look inside the last week of advent calendar goodness!
Warning this is a very picture heavy blogpost!
What was your favourite from days 13-21. I think it might be a draw between the Huda Beauty lipstick or the Fenty beauty highlighter! I'm so excited to give these both a try, it's just a shame only my front room will see!
Until next time,
Blogmas Day 21 | Gift wrapping ideas!
What's better than an evening/afternoon spent in-front of the television wrapping up all of those last minute Christmas presents? I love wrapping gifts and pulling together a little present theme for people. At this point I have a variety of ribbons, bows, papers and decorations to make Christmas a little bit special for someone, we all know it's needed this year.
I take Christmas way more seriously than it needs to be and try to think out a little theme. This year I decided to stay clear of last years classic brown paper and ribbon for something a little more fun. I actually bought my paper before the OG lockdown in March from Ikea for 10p a roll and absolutely loved how cute the little drawings are. To match the paper I opted for white sparkly ribbon and pink/blue bows. This paper is so easy to wrap with and if I'm able to get to an Ikea early on next year (fingers crossed) then I will try and get some more. It's the perfect thickness that holds the shape perfectly. Ikea - who would have thought it!
It makes me laugh when I write a whole post about Christmas wrapping when in reality I'm not going to be doing anything different this year than a basic wrap with ribbon and bow, but it's nice to see some examples of what you could do if you're wanting something to fill your time with. So enjoy some of my presents below along with some inspiration from good old Pinterest!
Blogmas Day 20 | A very different Christmas
In the aim of documenting this crazy crazy year, and being completely open and honest, today's post is going to be quite a short one. At the time of writing this post (1am on 20th December 2020) I actually had another blogmas post planned, which I am going to now post on Monday, featuring some present wrapping ideas. It didn't feel right to hit publish with what's happened in the news and it certainly doesn't reflect my feelings.
When deciding on doing Blogmas again this year I knew I wanted to keep things upbeat, happy and very festive over on my blog. So if you're looking for something like that then please scroll down to read all of my past posts this month. If we're being honest I have really struggled with my anxiety over the last couple of weeks and the latest Tier 4 news in my local area has really thrown me. My family, like many others, are now having to face a quieter Christmas. Our plans were always going to be small as we've followed the restrictions and rules to a T, but to hear we now can't even spend one day with my brother who's beautiful girlfriend is a NHS nurse working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is heartbreaking. I have so many emotions and am gutted for all those in the same position as us who will be finding the news tough. Please know that my messages are always open for anyone that needs it.
Stay safe, until tomorrow x
Blogmas Day 19 | Bringing Back That Festive Feeling
I always find this time of year tough and overwhelming, always have and probably always will. I love Christmas and still do, but it's such a pressured time of the year all in order to make one day perfect. This year things won't be perfect and I have struggled coming to terms with that. We won't be seeing either of my wonderful grandparents and I am so sad, anxious and worried that they will be on their own, although have the comfort that they have each other. Although we still don't know 100% what the plans will look like for Christmas in 2020 there are a few things that I have been doing to try and get myself excited for the festive season. So if you're struggling and looking for ways to feel all Christmassy, or even to escape 2020 a little, try out some of the below.
Christmas Crafts
I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but crafting is honestly one of the times I feel fully free and zen. There's something about being able to pop on a film/YouTube video or listening to music whilst making something for someone that is so relaxing. This week alone I have made a handful of christmas cards, painted a china candle holder for my mums present and did a couple of drawings. Also, nothing says thoughtful quite like a handmade gift.
Christmas Movies
As mentioned again in a previous blogmas post, Christmas Movies are no strangers in my house. If you think I'm a Christmas movie addict then you really must be introduced to my mum. She begins watching them in July and if she had the opportunity probably would start even earlier. But honestly Christmas movies cure EVERYTHING. Feeling sad? Christmas movie. Feeling stressed? Christmas movie. Feeling festive? CHRISTMAS MOVIE!! You see the theme here...
Christmas Lights
One of the perks of the evenings getting darker earlier is being able to walk about and stare at all the twinkling lights before it gets too late. This year in particular has helped us to see how important it is to take a few minutes out of a busy day to go for a little walk so what better time. Last year I wrote about being able to look at the lights on the way home from work on Oxford Street, what a difference a year makes! We've gone a little extreme this year and have followed the theme of every house in my road and popped outdoor lights all around the front of the house. Our road is bright, sparkly and it's given something for the children to smile at.
Hopefully some of these tips help if you're lacking that little bit of festive cheer! Please share anymore down in the comments, I'm sure others would love to read them too!
Until next time,
Blogmas Day 18 - Glossybox December 2020
Today is officially our one week til Christmas countdown! This time next week we will all have hopefully been visited by Father Christmas, and as nobody is on the naughty list this year we should all have a lovely Christmas spent safely with our loved ones. Today's Blogmas post is one of my favourites to write throughout the year, so knew I wanted to include December's monthly Glossybox this month too.
December's box is always known as being one of the prettiest and this month's was no different. The classic pink box design has had a little makeover and featured a gorgeous woodland scene with pink and white glitter. The classic black ribbon has also been updated and features 'Best time of the year' written in a gorgeous script. So what's inside...
The contents of this box were very different to what I've received during the month of December in the past, but I'm not mad about it. Often included are dark eyeshadow palettes or red lipsticks perfect for a Christmas party. With 2020 being a complete rip off for businesses, and now I'm redundant too, there wouldn't be a need for it. What was included was a variety of products perfect for pampering. Symbiosis London Glycolic Acid Rejuvinating Eye Serum - Full Size £102. This is a completely new brand to me but I am excited to give it a try. I often forget to use a specific eye product and rely on my normal face serums to cover that area too. I will report back if it's any good! Nailberry Nail Polish in Strawberry Jam - Full Size £15. I love this nail polish colour and it's one I know will look gorgeous on my toes. I treat myself to a monthly manicure, the only beauty treatment I pay for, so only tend to paint my toes if I'm trying to feel fancy. These polishes are supposed to be breathable as well so they look pretty and do good things for you too! Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask - Full Size Single £4, Pack of 6 £22. Another new product for me this month and another brand I'm yet to try. I love eye masks like these as they're so easy to pop on for instant relaxation. I love to store these in the fridge so they're cooling when putting on the face. Palmers Deluxe Mini Body Lotion - £1.50 I love this brand for skincare so know this will be a big hit. I'm planning on leaving this in my handbag to always have when needed! Finally, Sport FX Dry Shampoo - Full Sized. This product is bit of a random one and I don't have much information about it in my booklet as I was supposed to receieve a beauty blender, but it smells good and I'm always game for a dry shampoo!
So that's this month's box. I know I always say it at the end of these posts, but I just love how Glossybox put their boxes together as the products are always brilliant and well trusted within the beauty blogger world! The sneak peek to January's box seems to suggest it is all about starting anew so I'm hoping to find lots of gorgeous fresh and brightening products but we will have to wait til next month to find out!
Until tomorrow!
