Beauty: The new makeup bible - Pixiwoo Face book review

I have been blogging for over three years now, and honestly the time has flown by. Before blogging, like many others, watching YouTubers took up a lot of my time. The fact that ordinary everyday people were creating videos for you to watch for free really interested me, this made me really want to get involved within the community. The first beauty themed channel that I came across was Pixiwoo. I was a late bloomer in the makeup world and didn't really know where to begin. The first video I ever watched of Pixiwoo's was how to apply foundation. Since then, I have been hooked.

Back in April, I was browsing twitter and saw that Sam and Nic (Pixiwoo) were tweeting about attending Stylist Live and holding a talk. I instantly booked tickets for my mum and I to go. Fast forward to two weekends ago, and my mum and I were on the way to London for the event. For some reason I felt so anxious, yet excited to go to the Pixiwoo talk. I hoped that they were everything I thought they would be and I am so happy to say that they completely were. Their honesty and passion for their craft is something that I really admire in them. You can really tell that they love the whole makeup world and want to empower and encourage women to be themselves. My mum loved the talk as well and I think she now understands why I spend half of my time attempting to recreate their looks when going out. I knew I wanted to get their book 'Face', but didn't expect it to be at the Stylist Live event as it wasn't due to be released until the week after. Luckily I got a signed copy too, which makes it that extra bit special! Now onto the book review...

This book is incredible for anybody wanting to learn more about makeup application. I thought I knew which makeup was good for my skin, I was wrong! I love that this book completely reflects their honesty of their videos. Plus it's nice to be able to see an insight to their background from the biography pages. The book is full of gorgeous images of the girls applying makeup on themselves as well as models of various skin tones. As a pale girl I always feel very intimidated when it comes to experimenting with makeup so I love that they have included stuff I can relate too! From which brush to choose for application to the basics of skincare, this book truly covers everything. You can really tell that a lot of thought, effort and time has gone into creating each individual page.

I love that there is finally a book like this is available. I love that I can finally learn how to apply eyeliner and eyelashes correctly from the step by step guides that have been included! I am so excited to finish reading Face and will certainly be sharing it with everyone I know!

What do you think of the book? Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments!

Lifestyle : Stylist Live VIP goody bag haul

Stylist Live

I thought that I would upload this quick mid week post to share the things that was in the VIP goody bag from the Stylist Live event I attended a couple of weeks ago. I am always so nosey when it comes to this sort of thing, and am intrigued into what is included. This is probably the best goody bag I have ever received! So I apologise in advance for the amount of photographs, Enjoy!

Lifestyle : Stylist Live

Stylist Live

A couple of weekends ago, my mum and I attended Stylist Live for the first time ever. For the past couple of years we had been avid attendees of London Fashion Weekend, however with the move to Saatchi Gallery, found it not as inviting so were looking for a change. I had bought the tickets as part of the early bird deal so was able to snatch two VIP packages at a really affordable price (something that we were never able to do at LFWend as the prices always seemed to be going up!). So as you can imagine, mum and I were really excited to experience and see everything. I also booked us in to listen to the Pixiwoo talk as well which was part of our ticket, along with front row seats to the Swarovski catwalk show! Another part of our VIP package was a filled designer goody bag and access to the VIP lounge which had as much food as you could possibly eat. (I mean macaroni cheese on tap was the best decision ever!)

Stylist Live

Stylist Live had been set up perfectly at the Business Design Centre in London, using some of the rooms as stages for workshops and talks. They had some really interesting speakers in as well which made the event quite special and different. The whole atmosphere of Stylist Live was the complete opposite from what I had expected. The design centre had been decked out in such a cute, Pinterest worthy way. There was so many affordable shops that you could browse around, and they had even thought about including a 3d magazine cover that you could pose inside to have your photo taken and printed to bring home with you. (Our photo is now taking pride place on our fridge!).

One of the main reasons that I had wanted to go to Stylist Live in the first place, was to listen to Sam and Nic Chapman of Pixiwoo talk on the Inspiration stage. As I have previously mentioned, Pixiwoo was the first youtube channel that I watched when becoming interested in fashion and beauty. I was so excited to just listen to them talk live and see how true they were online as they are in person, which I can safely say they are! I loved how honest and open they were when answering the questions thrown at them by the audience after the 'planned' questions were over. It's clear that they love what they do, and have a passion for sharing this with other people. One of the main things that I was able to take away with me from them was their eagerness to inspire and empower other women. This is so refreshing to see, especially when they are in an industry that can at times be seen as extremely competitive. We were also lucky enough to be shown a sneak preview of their upcoming TV programme with the BBC which I can't wait to watch in full soon. When leaving the talk I straight away went to hunt down their new book 'Face', which was being sold early at Stylist live before the release date, to see what other tips and tricks I could learn to improve my makeup application skills.  I also wanted to get one of the signed copies before anybody else could!

Overall I had such an amazing time at Stylist Live and really can't wait to book my tickets to go again next year. It was a completely different experience than London Fashion Weekend was, and one that I enjoyed much more. Now that I kind of know how Stylist Live works, I can't wait to get more involved with other talks and workshops next time round.

Have you been to Stylist Live? What are your thoughts on it!

Beauty: Glossybox November 2016

Glossybox november 2016

After last months first exciting Glossybox, I was super excited to receive the November edition! Once again the classic pretty pink box turned up on my doorstep. I know I touched upon this in my last Glossybox review, but the packaging really impresses me! Every box is wrapped up nicely as if your receiving a present.

This month's box was collated by Evie Leatham, Glossybox's Editorial Director. The idea behind the box was to create an edit of transformative quick fixes to get you ready for the festive party season. I love this idea as taking care of your skin/base is an essential for long lasting and fabulous party makeup!

De Bruyere Beauté - Jumbo Eye pencil in Bubble 07 | RRP £15
This eye crayon was the only product that I knew I would be receiving as it was in the sneak peek section! This style of eye makeup has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years and I can totally tell why! It is super easy to use, and can be used heavily or lightly depending on what kind of makeup look you are trying to create. The shade Bubble 07 is quite Khaki-grey which is a really on trend colour at the moment. The pencil is really creamy as well, so makes it easy to blend in with your fingers on the go, or with a brush. I was a little worried initially that the shade would be too dark for my paler complexion, however love how it looks. I love the pigmentation and shimmery highlight of the colour also.

Ruby Professional - Large Tapered Blending Brush | £8
I love trying out new makeup brushes. In my opinion you can never have enough of them, especially if your lazy like me and find washing brushes a big chore! This brush can be used in a variety of ways. It's small and fluffy enough to be the perfect eyeshadow blender brush, but also big enough for a handy precision contouring brush for areas of the face. It would also apply highlight perfectly down the nose! I hadn't ever heard of Ruby Professional before trying out this brush, but love how soft and lightweight this brush is as it helps with the application.

Wilkinson Sword - Quattro for Women Raspberry Rain Disposable Razors | £5.69 for 3
I must admit I did have a little laugh when I opened the box and these were the first things I saw. I have actually tried these before and liked them! So it's always handy to have some spares, even if it was a random thing!

111 Skin - Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask | £20
Over the past couple of weeks I have really enjoyed applying a face mask to relax in the evenings. I haven't tried very many sheet masks so am looking forward to giving this a go! I am also excited to see what it looks like, I am expecting my face to be gold once it's finished.

Glossybox november 2016

Nanogen - Root Boost Hair Thickening Spray | £9.95
It's almost like Glossybox somehow managed to read my mind! I have been wanting a thickening spray that didn't make my hair feel horrible to touch. I have tried so many different ones that would leave my hair knotty, so I can't wait to try this out.

Glossybox november 2016

Raffaello
As a little extra treat this month they included a little chocolate. What a treat!

Overall November's box has been just as good, perhaps a little bit better than last months! We were given a December sneak peek as well which is so exciting! Next month we are being given the chance to pick our own box, so I can't wait to see the choices!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got this month! Let me know if you received similar products this month if your also subscribed!

Lots of love,
