Beauty: The new makeup bible - Pixiwoo Face book review

I have been blogging for over three years now, and honestly the time has flown by. Before blogging, like many others, watching YouTubers took up a lot of my time. The fact that ordinary everyday people were creating videos for you to watch for free really interested me, this made me really want to get involved within the community. The first beauty themed channel that I came across was Pixiwoo. I was a late bloomer in the makeup world and didn't really know where to begin. The first video I ever watched of Pixiwoo's was how to apply foundation. Since then, I have been hooked. 

Back in April, I was browsing twitter and saw that Sam and Nic (Pixiwoo) were tweeting about attending Stylist Live and holding a talk. I instantly booked tickets for my mum and I to go. Fast forward to two weekends ago, and my mum and I were on the way to London for the event. For some reason I felt so anxious, yet excited to go to the Pixiwoo talk. I hoped that they were everything I thought they would be and I am so happy to say that they completely were. Their honesty and passion for their craft is something that I really admire in them. You can really tell that they love the whole makeup world and want to empower and encourage women to be themselves. My mum loved the talk as well and I think she now understands why I spend half of my time attempting to recreate their looks when going out. I knew I wanted to get their book 'Face', but didn't expect it to be at the Stylist Live event as it wasn't due to be released until the week after. Luckily I got a signed copy too, which makes it that extra bit special! Now onto the book review...

This book is incredible for anybody wanting to learn more about makeup application. I thought I knew which makeup was good for my skin, I was wrong! I love that this book completely reflects their honesty of their videos. Plus it's nice to be able to see an insight to their background from the biography pages. The book is full of gorgeous images of the girls applying makeup on themselves as well as models of various skin tones. As a pale girl I always feel very intimidated when it comes to experimenting with makeup so I love that they have included stuff I can relate too! From which brush to choose for application to the basics of skincare, this book truly covers everything. You can really tell that a lot of thought, effort and time has gone into creating each individual page. 

I love that there is finally a book like this is available. I love that I can finally learn how to apply eyeliner and eyelashes correctly from the step by step guides that have been included! I am so excited to finish reading Face and will certainly be sharing it with everyone I know!

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus lipglass

I am guilty to being a horder of lip products. From balm to stain I literally have it all. In my defence most of them are drugstore products so are more affordable for a mere student like me. When I heard about the collab Miley Cyrus was doing with MAC I was a little skeptical. I have in the past purchased products from both the Nicki Minaj and Rihanna lines and been a little bit disappointed with them, as in my opinion they are a little bit harder to wear everyday. I decided to have a little look on the MAC website to see what all the commotion was about. I fell in love with the lipglass. I have never purchased a lipgloss from MAC before so can't comment from experience, but the smell, texture and lasting time of this product is absolutely amazing. It also looks lovely ontop of other lipsticks to create more of a shine. I am so glad I picked it up! When checking out 'Angel' appeared in my basket accidentally so I ended up buying that as well! I thought if I was having to spend money on postage I might as well make it worth the while! 

I really recommend you checking out the Viva Glam Miley range while you can! I have a feeling they will be sold out soon, if not already! 

In other MAC news I completely missed the online release of the Cinderella collab! I had a little live chat with one of the lovely ladies from MAC and was told that they are going to be releasing in-store on the 16th March so I am hoping to pick up the eyeshadow palette then!

Major haul part 2

So I did a little splurge in superdrug and boots. Usually I do a long introduction saying how much I have been loving all of these products and that I had my eye on them for ages and finally caved in to buy them, but today I am not going to do that. Although what I just wrote is true, I just didn't need to buy anything makeup related as I have far to much already in my drawer. But I thought that I would treat myself.

Starting with Nails. Superdrug were having a 3 for 2 nail offer with all of their nail varnishes in store. The superdrug in my high street has started to sell Opi varnishes and I fell in love with these two colours. My brothers graduation was last tuesday and my dress was a dark blue colour and that was one colour nail varnish I didn't own! The two colours I got were It's up to you (dark blue) and Take a stand (Pink). The other nail varnish I got was from Sleek. This is the first time I have tried out the Gel  style polishes. I got a pale pink in Sugar coat me, as I thought it would be really pretty for the summer. And if it lasts for a while then I will definitely be investing in them!

When looking at the Sleek nail polishes I saw this face form palette. As it was my brothers graduation  and we were going up the night before and staying in a travel lodge I wanted to try and get a all in one blush, highlighter and bronzer palette. I have tried this out for a couple of days now and I absolutely love it. I am used to using hoola by benefit and this is very similar. The blush is also gorgeous which is always a bonus!

I also popped into the body shop. This is one of the stores which I feel is often overlooked when wanting makeup. The prices are pretty affordable, although not completely high street, and mostly are organic or are better for your skin. I have been using the all in one face base for over 5 years now, which is a very long time when it comes to using a product! (Obviously I bought others!) It was time for a new one so I purchased one. I am in the shade 04. When I finding it on the shelf I found this BB cream. I have read a couple of reviews about this online so kind of understood the whole 'it comes out white then rubs on your hand to blend into your skin tone'. I struggle to find a foundation that works perfectly for me, likewise I struggle to find bb creams that work for me. I tried this out on the back of my hand and am really pleased with the results. I decided that I would give it a little try so will let you know what I think when I have given it a good test run! I got shade 00 in the BB cream. I also got given a eyeliner in a lucky dip which I am also yet to try!

Obviously I can't do a makeup haul without purchasing some kind of eye makeup. I have seen the Kate collection for Rimmel London both in stores and online and wanted to try out the shadow stick. I got the rose gold colour and am yet to try it out! I had planned to wear this shade on my eyes for my brothers graduation but decided to wear a more neutral colour. I got Maxfactor pink gold 24 hour colour tattoo. I absolutely love this colour. I wore it when I was away with my Naked 3 palette.

Finally I went to accessorise and picked up a couple of hairbands. I decided to go shopping on probably the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, so needed to get my hair out of my face. These were the only ones that I could find that were pretty and affordable. They do the job, but are not amazing for people with long hair like me! They look pretty at the end of a plait though!

L'Oreal foundation review and FOTD

The other day in my haul post I had mentioned buying the new L'Oreal nude magique foundation in shade 100 porcelain. I have decided to review this product as well as show you how I did my makeup for the day that I wore it.

When I picked up this foundation in boots there were not a lot of stock left of these (guessing they are popular!) but I swatched away and found that the lightest shade worked best for my skin tone (surprise surprise). When first applying this product I had applied some moisturiser before because my skin tends to go dry in the winter and other foundations I have used in the past needed this as a base to get the best coverage. I needn't of bothered though because the foundation went on perfectly and blended really well. It also was so lightweight that it didn't feel like I was wearing anything at all. The coverage is light- medium, which is fine to hide away some of the redness. I used a little bit of concealer under my eyes but the foundation did a good job of covering most damage under my eyes anyway! The finish of this foundation is liquid to powder and it does a great job of doing that. Because I have dry skin, like I already mentioned, liquid foundations and products in general do not sit well with me, so I steer towards powders. For £6.99 (introductory price, soon to be £9.99) this foundation is well worth picking up. This is the first drugstore foundation that I have tried and I am so impressed. I am a lover of the YSL touché eclat and this is definitely in the same category as that! The only thing I would change about this product, like I said in the haul post, is that it has a screwable lid and not a pump!  Other than that this foundation gets 4 stars from me! Todays makeup is more of a natural look and one that I can wear on a day to day basis, as well as using some products that I have wanted to try out for ages!

-Max factor lipgloss in 04 pink romantic
