Fashion | ZARA SUMMER HAUL

Anyone else get caught out during the hot spike last week? Because I certainly did! So much so I decided to pull together a little Zara order to fill the missing spaces in my wardrobe of clothes I threw out last year, and thought I would be able to replace a lot easier this year! Zara isn't always my cup of tea, but when they've got some good pieces online they're one of my favourite places to shop. Hopefully these staples will be easy to wear with what I already own and be perfect for Summer days out in the garden, because let's face it we're not going on a holiday anytime soon! 

I loved how simple this white t-shirt is. The frilly pocket makes what is something boring a little more fun and I know I will get lots of use during the summer with shorts, but also in the cooler months as a layering piece. I also needed some updated denim this year, especially post lockdown! Zara is usually a hit or miss with bottoms so I ordered these in a couple of sizes. I would say these hi-rise shorts with ripped detailing fit true to size but would suggest ordering one size bigger if you want them to be super relaxed. 

I saw this relaxed vest with bows and fell in love! It was actually out of stock when I placed my first order but put my email down to be reminded and got it the next day. Much like the white t-shirt above I love how simple this is and I know it will be easy to style. The polka dot skort is also a favourite of mine from this order. It's simple but can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Although I am happy with this purchase I have decided to order again one size up as the fabric is a little tight and I want it to be comfortable. 

Then I saw this relaxed t-shirt dress for £7.99 and thought I would see if this style suits me. Sadly I don't think it does, and it's a little shapeless for my liking, but I love the idea of it! I am going to be keeping this one despite my views on it, as know it will be great when the weather gets even hotter to sit in the garden in! 

I then found this cute gingham dress with a small puff sleeve and fell in love. I love the puff sleeve trend going around at the moment and think this dress will be great on a summer picnic, even if it is just in the garden. I also loved the idea of dressing this up with a pair of wedges on holiday when the time comes! 

Again, I needed another pair of denim shorts so tried out this style. If I'm honest I am not sure if I will be keeping them as they make me feel...big. They fit perfectly on the waist but the leg holes just don't sit right and the weird panel on the front looks odd to me. I'll be having a think about these ones! 

Finally, I saw that I owned 0 maxi dresses so decided to try out this little beauty. I love the gorgeous coral colour, ruffles and the fabric of this. The neckline is more plunging than I probably would have chosen, but the straps are adjustable to give some support. 


So there we have it, my little Zara haul. I know my picks aren't that adventurous but what can you do on a furloughed budget! There were a couple of misses that I haven't shown above as they didn't fit correctly. I think Zara's sizing has and will always be a risk when it comes to ordering online. At the moment I vary from size 8-14 depending on what the product is which isn't great.

Fashion : Zara sale OOTD!

I can't be the only one who gets excited when they hear/read the words Zara sale right? Out of all the sales that happen around this time of year Zara are always the shop which, in my opinion, come out on top! The discounts are always incredible, and it's probably one of the only times I have a proper look around and shop there. 

I went into my local store last week and spotted this dress when shopping with Emma (my brother's girlfriend). After trying it on knew I needed it in my life! The dress cost £17.99 and is completely different to anything I have ever bought before, albeit extremely daring for me! I love the layered ruffles and off shoulder detailing, as well as the cute waist tie and ruffled hem. My favourite part about the dress is the nude coloured slip underneath which makes the yellow laced fabric hang gorgeously on the body when worn. As an added bonus, this dress makes me feel amazing too! This dress is so versatile and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion! I've already decided that it will be coming away with me when I go on holiday next month.

To match the gorgeous dress, I also decided to do a yellow/gold eye look which turned out a lot better than I thought it would!

Fashion : Summer Primark Haul

Shopping in Primark is probably one of my favourite things to do. Although it is a dangerous place too as I always go in for one or two things and leave with much more than that! I especially love shopping in Primark during the Summer season and love finding simple pieces that would work well when abroad. As a soon to be university graduate with little money, and no current income, I like to buy bits for my summer holiday at the start of the year so I have some nice new bits to take away with me. Like everything with social media, I was suckered in to browsing for some costumes which obviously led to me buying the whole store!

So I may have gone a little OTT in the shoe department...but everyone needs a new pair of shoes right? I have seen so many people rocking the Primark sliders so thought I would jump on the trend and get myself my own pair. I knew that I wanted to try the furry sliders, but loved the gorgeous embellishment on the pale pink pair so wanted to get them too! Both of the sliders were £6.00. Then as I was leaving the shoe section I saw a huge stand of the pumps pictured above in different colour ways and styles. I really love the espadrille trend and wore a pair of Zara ones almost everyday of my summer holiday last year so knew that I would get good use out of these too. Plus at £6.00 it doesn't matter if I leave them on holiday! 

One of my favourite thing about Primark at the moment is all of the gorgeous prints and swim wear that they have in. They really have stepped up their game this year which is great when they are at such an affordable price. This leaf, palm print is so pretty and feminine that I think I bought the pattern on everything it was on in store. 

First of all I spotted this bikini from the window and knew it was something I needed to get. The great thing is the different styles that are available in the same print. For example, this bikini came with shorts, tankini, triangle top and a swimsuit. Personally I really love the flattering style of the ruffled top and normal bottoms, plus I think the pink and green combination is my favourite thing ever! (Top £5.00, Bottoms £6.00.)

Obviously I couldn't buy swimwear without buying the matching towel right? There's not really anything special about the towel, in fact it's quite thin, but what else can you expect from a £4.50 towel? This towel is the perfect size though for laying on top of on the beach, but also light enough to have folded at the bottom of your beach bag just in case you come across the beach!

Going along with the palm print theme, I also spotted this gorgeous play suit. I think this is actually meant to be a swimsuit cover up, but I would totally wear it during the day or for the evening. I love the cinched in waist and ruffled hem as it makes it look really flattering when worn. The play suit cost £8.00, although I would have paid more as the quality on it is really good. 

Moving on from the leaf theme (finally), I also couldn't help but buy myself another towel. This time I went with a design featuring my favourite Disney movie ever, The Little Mermaid! Again, this towel is quite thin but I love it nevertheless! (The towel cost £5.50). I also decided to get this zip of Bikini Bag for £1.50. I have been on the lookout for something like this for a while and think I am going to go back and get one for each of my bikinis. The only downside to this one in particular is the size as it can only fit one set in it. This also came in a variety of different styles too, so you can mix and match which ones you like. 

Finally, I was so excited to find these little gems! (Sadly, I think they are all sold out now!) Emma, my brother's girlfriend, and I have been looking at different floats since we booked our holiday last year so was so excited when she told me she had found them in the store as they were so hard to find. Emma got us the Flamingo and Unicorn float for £10.00 each. The watermelon is slightly cheaper at £5.00, although just as fabulous! I really can't wait to use them, although I'm hoping I'm not the one that has to do the mammoth task of blowing them up!

Beauty : Glossybox April 2017

Another month, another Glossybox!

This month has been so busy with university work that I haven't had lots of time to go out shopping and browsing the makeup stands in boots and superdrug myself, so I always look forward to receiving my little box in the post! The theme of April's box was multi-tasking, which couldn't have come at a better time with my deadlines! This month's box was also in my favourite styling, the classic pink and black colour scheme. So, let's take a look inside...

Elgon Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner - RRP £14.50 
The first product I received this month was the Elgon Cleansing Conditioner. In my house, conditioner is like gold dust, it always seems to go really quickly! I haven't heard of the brand before but love the idea behind the products. This conditioner can also be used on its own or with an accompanying shampoo. I love that this is a 2 in 1 product, and can't wait to give it a proper try soon!

Model Co Contouring Stick - RRP £17
This product was one of the sneak peaks in last months box so I was excited to try it out. I have only used a few contouring sticks like this in the past and have found them awkward to use on my skin tone. The shade of this product isn't as scary to use, and I have actually used it a couple of times already on my cheeks. The product description states that you can use the contour stick to define the jaw and nose as well, although I don't think I am brave enough to try that out yet!

SportFX Definition Duo Eyeliner Pencil - RRP £9.99 *FULL SIZE PRODUCT*
This eyeliner was one of the full sized products that I received in the box this month. My first impressions of it are really positive. I love the packaging and the concept of having the two different eyeliner choices in one. When swatching the product, the colours aren't as dark as I thought they would be which I personally love. The product description also states that you could also use the brown pencil to define the brows so I guess this makes it a 3 in 1 product. The product is also waterproof so would be perfect to use at the gym if you wanted, although I reckon it will be perfect to use on holiday. Stay tuned!

Merci Handy Cleansing Gel - £2.90 *FULL SIZED PRODUCT*
I love a hand sanitiser and always make sure I have one on me whenever I leave the house. I actually have one in my car at all times! I have tried the Merci Hand gels before so knew what to expect from them and was equally as impressed!

Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL - £24
I was really excited to see a mascara in this months box, especially one that claims to give you BIG lashes without having to actual apply lashes! With that being said, I am yet to try this out as I have a couple of mascara's already on the go. Once I have given it a go, I will report back!

Overall I am really impressed with everything that I received in this months box. Sadly, I think I will be unsubscribing from Glossybox. I have really enjoyed trying out the new products each month but am finding it an expensive thing to do when I am not always happy with everything I get. Hopefully once I have a full time job, and have finished university, I can restart it again!
