Beauty: Glossybox October 2016

Glossybox

A couple of weeks ago I received my first ever Glossybox, and what a month to begin with! October's box was in collaboration with beauty and lifestyle blogger Estée Lalonde with the theme of discovery.  Estée picked out the products in this box herself so I was intrigued to see what she had chosen as I love watching her videos!

I was so excited to receive the iconic pink box and fell in love with the gorgeous packaging! As much as I like being subscribed to Birchbox, you don't get as much of a 'gift' feel that you do when receiving something tied up with ribbon. Plus I am a sucker for anything pink and black!

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait- Buttery lip cream | RRP £12.95
I will be honest, as soon as I saw the packaging of this product I was instantly intrigued. I mean it's cardboard tube isn't like anything I have ever seen before and in my opinion looks a little cheap. I have also noticed that as I put the lid on and off small bits of paper dust keep on going onto the top of the lipstick which is a little annoying. Anyway packaging aside, I love the fruity smell of this product. However the shade is far to pale and patchy on my lips when applied. I have applied this on top of another lipstick though and prefer it much more, but on its own is a big no no!

The Body Shop - Drops of Youth Concentrate | RRP £25.00
This is probably the one product in the box this month that made me the most excited. Since I started using my Clinique Smart Serum back in February, I have noticed a considerable change in the condition of my skin. The only problem is the fact that the Clinique Serum is rather pricey! So I can't wait to give this product a little try.

Universal Beauty Cosmetics - Secret Flush Soothing Cream Blusher and Lip Stain Duo | RRP £15.00
Cream blusher and lip stain duos have become increasingly popular amongst the beauty blogger community over the past couple of years. I for one love them. I don't tend to wear blusher on an everyday basis, but this shade allows you to softly apply it to your cheeks giving them more of a subtle look. More excitingly, using this product on your lips gives you a gorgeous rose tint. Although you do have to apply it with a lip brush or your finger as the tube is too big for your lips.

Glossybox

Bee Good - Honey and Camellia Facial Exfoliator | £10.50
This brand was completely new to me this month, although I think I do recognise the logo! This product states that it is suitable for all skin types, which is great as quite often facial exfoliators can be quite harsh on my sensitive skin. I am really excited to give this product a try, especially because I find that during the winter my skin becomes dry no matter how much cream I apply, so I want to combat this early on. Plus this product is environmentally friendly as well as being friendly to your skin, double bonus!

PS...PRO - HD Mascara Black | RRP £3.00
I have been looking at so many Glossybox reviews to see what PS Pro products other people had received as people have been getting different bits. I received the ultra volume and lift mascara which is perfect for me as I have been on the hunt to find the perfect voluminising mascara recently. I can't wait to give this a try!

Glossybox

New Beauty Shampoo
Something a little different with the box this month, is the fact Estée included this 'invisible' shampoo for subscribers to discover without knowing what brand it was from. Being someone with long hair, I HATE trying out different shampoos as I am 100% true to my Aussie brand. However I did give this a little try and loved the smell of it, but hated the shine it gave my hair. As a dark blonde products that leave a shine sometimes make my hair look greasy which I hate. Estée later revealed on her blog that this was in fact a Head and Shoulders shampoo which was quite interesting!

Overall I am really happy with everything that I received in my first Glossybox! I am so excited for next months especially with the sneak peek revealing an exciting eyeshadow pencil stick!

Let me know what you think about this months box, or if you love any of the products mentioned!

Thanks for reading

Beauty: Shadow Switch Dry Brush Cleaner review*

Shadow Switch Dry Brush Cleaner

I am always on the look out for cute little beauty tools that can make the whole process of applying makeup that little bit easier, so when I was contacted about trying the Shadow Switch dry brush cleaner I jumped at the chance!

I surely can't be the only one who uses what seems like 300 makeup brushes when applying eye makeup right? I admit I can become a little bit lazy with making sure that my eye makeup brushes are clean as they are not something that I use everyday.

Shadow Switch Dry Brush Cleaner

Okay, so it's not exactly magic but it certainly seems like it! In fact this product is actually very simple in the way that it has been designed. The Shadow Switch comes in a round pot with a wire sponge inside. As you swirl your dirty brush along the surface of the sponge the eyeshadow becomes trapped inside thus removing colour from the brush making them clean within seconds. You can then continue using the same brush to blend/apply another colour. Cleaning the Shadow Switch is also super easy! You can very quickly rinse it through and leave to dry as part of your normal brush washing routine. (Note that this product doesn't actually clean the brush itself fully, but it does an excellent job for a quick brush change!)

Overall, I love the idea behind the Shadow Switch. There are so many different occasions where I end up using lots of different brushes and have to hunt for the 'less dirty' brush to use. So this is going  to make my life so much easier!

Have you tried this product? What do you think about it! You can purchase the Shadow Switch online HERE. They have also recently changed up their packaging which looks absolutely gorgeous!

Beauty: Birchbox October 2016

Take a peek inside October's Birchbox!

Birchbox October 2016

It feels like months since I last posted a first impression review/haul on the latest Birchbox. (I guess that's because it is seeing as I skipped a month!) To be honest I was a little let down with last months box so decided that I really couldn't be bothered to even talk much about it. One things for sure, this month is 10 times better than any of the boxes I have ever received from Birchbox so they have certainly redeemed themselves.

Birchbox October 2016 box design

Birchbox October 2016 contents

This months box was inspired by all things astrological. Birchbox have created 4 different box designs that were sent out to you depending on what your star sign is (or was, sorry NASA but I am a Pisces no matter what you say!). A fun little extra about the box this month is that they also have glow in the dark stars all over them which is such a fun extra detail. Birchbox have also recently changed the design of their boxes to a drawer which I didn't love to begin with, but now really like! (I love using these boxes to store my pro marker pens in as they are great for storage!) Another great thing about this months box was that inside every box was a full sized lip product which is always a bonus. Let's take a peek inside...

Lord and Berry Maxi Matte Crayon lipstick

Lord and Berry Maxi Matte Crayon lipstick

Lord & Berry Maxi Matte Crayon in Intimacy
I was so excited to see that this was the full sized lip product in this months box. I have seen lots of bloggers raving about these products over the past few months so they are becoming more and more popular. I am also a BIG fan of matte lipsticks so was intrigued to see if this was comfortable to wear. The colour is a gorgeous dark rose shade which I imagine will suit lots of different skin tones. The idea of this pencil is that you line using the tip then fill them in afterwards. The product is so creamy and feels like a balm on your lips. I have worn this a couple of times to university already and love that I don't have to think about topping up my lipstick as it last's on the lips all day.

Oribe Dry texturising spray

Oribe Dry texturising spray

Oribe Dry Texturising Spray
I feel like this is another blogger favourite product this month! I love to use dry shampoo whenever I'm feeling lazy, but have never really used a texturising spray before. This spray is a mixture of the both, making the hair look cleaner as well as giving it an instant lift. I am yet to try this product, but am excited to see if it really does add volume to my hair without feeling all sticky!

Doux Me Paris moisturising spray

Doux Me Paris moisturising spray

Doux Me Pure Mist Spray
This product is a Birchbox exclusive! I was hoping to receive something like this, this month after hearing that I would be getting a water themed box. I have always wanted to try the Evian spring water spray but never found it in stores when I was looking. The point of the spray is to give you a moment of calm and relaxation whilst soothing and hydrating your skin. I feel that this would have been perfect in the July/August box so that we could have taken it on holiday.

Hammam Body Mud

Hammam Body Mud

Rituals Hammam Body Mud
This is another product that I have never really tried before. This purifying body scrub is used to refresh and smooth the skin. The instructions say to use it once or twice weekly so I imagine that its quite an intense product! With that being said I can't wait to add it into my weekly routine! It smells lovely anyway.

N4 hair oil

N4 Hair Oil

Number 4 Elixir and Restore Oil
I know that I say every month how sick I am about receiving hair products...BUT this product is certainly an exception. Hair oils are relatively new to me, I have probably used them once or twice in the past. Although I liked the ones I had tried, they always left my hair feeling greasy quicker than normal. So I am really looking forward to trying this out to see if it is any better. Apparently it will transform my hair into silky strands, lets see if it lives up to this statement!

Birchbox eyebrow Brush

Birchbox eyebrow brush

Birchbox Eyebrow Brush
Why do I feel like the conversation of including this product in the box went like this... "Guys, we have found a load of eyebrow brushes out the back what should we do with them?" "Shove them in everybody's Birchbox's this month", "ok cool.". Quite a random product to include, however very useful in your makeup routine. So thanks Birchbox I guess?

So overall I am super impressed with all of the contents in the box this month, which is lucky as I was thinking about cancelling my subscription after last months disaster! This month I also signed up to receive Glossybox, so I am looking forward to being able to compare the two boxes.

Is there anything that I recieved this month you have tried? What are your thought? Let me know in the comments!

Lots of love,
Francesca

Beauty: Kylie Cosmetics Maliboo and Candy K review!

So I may have accidentally purchased another two Kylie Jenner Lip Kits! Although after the annoying custom fee being added onto my order, I reckon that this will be my last purchase for a while! I have been wearing my Candy K lip kit since the day I got it back in February. The shade has truly become 'my' colour and it's made me fall in love with the matte finish even more. I have tried to find a replacement/dupe of Candy for months and haven't had much luck on my search. So I knew that I would eventually have to reorder from Kylie Cosmetics. After seeing the email about $5 shipping, I knew it was time to order! The $14.95 shipping fee normally puts me off ordering from them as I know that on top of this price is the uncertainty of a custom fee charge. (In the past I have been lucky to have not paid this on Lip Kit orders, however I did have to pay it on a lipgloss replacement delivery.)

The main reason for this order was to replace my favourite Candy K Lip Kit shade. However, somewhere along the line I ended up talking myself into purchasing a new shade as I knew I wanted to try a new colour and didn't want to pay for shipping and customs again down the line. Initially I was going to get Dirty peach, but as soon as I saw Maliboo I knew that it was the shade for me. Maliboo is quite similar to Candy K, but is a little bit more of a cool toned nude. It is a really wearable everyday colour which was exactly what I needed in my collection! Like all of the Lip Kits, you receive a liner and liquid lipstick in the box. The liner is super creamy and so easy to apply. I also love wearing the liners on their own as well as with the kits so it's a 2-in-1 kind of deal! The liquid lipstick comes with a dough foot applicator which makes applying it smooth and quick! I love how this shade looks on me, and can imagine that I will be wearing it a lot in the next few wintery months!

Candy K, Maliboo
I love the Lip Kits from Kylie Cosmetics, but just wish that they were slightly cheaper and a lot more easy to get hold of! There are so many different products now within her collection that I would love to try but just hate having to pay an expensive shipping fee and custom charge everytime she releases a new product! Maybe one day I will be in the position to without worrying! Although, she deffo has enough money and popularity to put her products into stores now...

Anyway, what do you think about Kylie Cosmetics? Have you tried any of her Lip Kits? Any shades you think I might like to try. Or what are your opinions on the shadows/liners? Let me know!

Love,
