London Fashion Weekend!

London Fashion Weekend

Sorry for not posting on Sunday but I had a huge deadline that I needed to complete and now I have managed to get the flu! Due to this I am bed bound, but alas I am not letting that stop my excitement for London Fashion Weekend! I go every September and after getting a letter through the post giving me 25% off tickets and a glass of bubbly at the door I knew I had to go! Here is my simple guide of what I feel are must haves for the day!

Firstly seeing as it is still very winter, and still very cold in London layers are essential. From past experience I know how hot it can get when walking around somerset house so being able to put on or take off a jumper/jacket is the best thing. For me I am the most comfortable in a pair of thick leggings. I own THIS pair from Next and have been super impressed with how comfy they actually are. I am not the kind of person who wears leggings on their own as trousers, I usually dress them up with a long top or dress.

The next thing that I feel is a must have is an oversized jumper with a simple tee underneath. Oversized jumpers are perfect to glam up any outfit as they look effortless yet stylish at the same time. I have one from Zara which is black and white strapped that is perfect for styling with a pair of leggings. Finally a leather jacket doubles up as stylish and comfortable. I love how a leather jacket can edge up a look whilst still doing the job of keeping you warm!

For a bag you need something big enough to keep your camera in as well as other essentials such as a purse and phone. A classic black bag with a long strap is perfect for throwing over your shoulder as it keeps it out of the way but still holds all of the necessities.

Finally a good pair of shoes are essential for comfort. You can go for a pair of classic wedges OR my personal favourite a pair of Doc Martens or other worker style boots. I love the pair above from Next.

Hope this gives you a little bit of an idea of what I am going to wear and I hope you look forward to seeing some posts with pictures next week!

Blogmas day 9!

christmas movies!

I watch christmas movies all year round as it is my favourite season..EVER! I love the story lines and the happiness of the films and the adventure and santa...I love santa! Anyway let me get on with sharing my top 5 christmas films.

Elf
Elf has been one of the most popular christmas films over the past couple of years with everybody raving about how great and funny it is. It is so easy to watch and no matter how many times you watch the film it is still as funny the second time round. Will Ferrel makes such an amazing elf and you forget that there isn't an elf land! If you haven't seen this film then you deffo have to put it onto your must watch list!

The Grinch
This must go down as my all-time favourite christmas movie. The film the grinch used to scare me as a child but I would always watch it anyway around christmas so I could get into the festive spirit. The graphics and quality of the film look so different and cute and I love the who village! I am sure this film has been watched by almost everyone but I recommend it all the same!

Home Alone
This film is always on the television on the week leading up till christmas. I never used to enjoy this film and always ended up watching half of the movie, but the other week I found it hidden in my dvd rack and watched not only the first movie but the second one as well. If the title doesn't give it away, the film is about a boy who gets left behind twice whilst his family goes away on a vacation. He never learnt from the first time!

Arthur Christmas
This is my favourite christmas movie of this year. I bought it on DVD and even downloaded it onto my iPad. It is such a easy film to watch without having to think too much. The story line is quite simple as a present hasn't been delivered and Arthur has too fight through the night and various countries to deliver the present. I have also spotted an advert on sky last night advertising that this movie is going to be played throughout December on their channel so I am going to make sure that I catch it and make all of the family watch it later too!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer the movie
This must be the oldest christmas movie that I can remember. I used to always watch it with my cousins on christmas eve to get us all excited for the next day of festivities. I am not even sure you can buy this film anymore, but I know for a fact that you can watch it on youtube so if you are interested in watching it I will leave the link down below for you!

Hope you liked some of my favourite pics and let me know what you think I need to watch this year!

Blogmas day 8!

gift guide for him

I have put together a couple of ideas for a gift guide for some of the men in your life. I know that I struggle with getting my brother and dad presents as they don't ever give any hints or ideas of things that they want!

Ipod/Iphone/Ipad/Touchscreen gloves
Most people have touchscreen phones or iPods now and its always a pain having to put your gloves on and off throughout the winter season. I know this is something that I have used for a little while now and it makes such a difference! I am not sure of the science behind how they work but I think that it has something to do with small bits of wire wrapped within the fibres on the fingertips of the gloves. They are also really affordable and you can buy them for various prices. The best bet is to check online and see what stores do the best deals!

Nike Fuel band
This is something that my parents bought for my brother last christmas and it is something that he has worn all year to track how he is getting on with his training. It also works as a watch which means he doesn't have to have a lot of different things on his wrist. The bit I find most cool about it is that you can take the band apart and plug it into a laptop/ipad and update your details from the band onto a online account so you can keep track whenever. It also acts as a stepometer! They can be quite pricey but are great for everyone!

Movies
Something I always find that goes down well at christmas is a film of any kind. My brother is a big kid at heart so I have bought him the new despicable me film which he loves. There has been some great films on this year which I believe are all being released this month and I am sure that they will have some good deals where you can buy them. You can't go wrong with a film!

Toms
Although in the UK it is rubbish weather most of the winter/spring, so they don't really count for now but Toms are a great shoe for a great cause. When you buy one pair another pair is sent out to a child who needs it the most. This ethic behind the company is really good and it makes the somewhat expensive price tag seem worth it. I have thought about buying my brother some of these so he can save them for his holiday next year.

Crew Hair Gel
Boys are always using hair gel as much as they deny it they have as much hair products as girls do. This one by crew is a really good salon quality gel and doesn't leave little white bits in your hair like some high street brands do. It is also very affordable but can be a little stocking filler!

Socks
Everybody loves a festive sock. If you are not given a pair of socks at christmas then you are really missing out! There are some great ones being sold at Topman at the moment for quite a good affordable price. I also believe that there is a deal going on at the moment where you can buy a few different pairs for a reasonable price. So make sure you go and check them out!

Hope you like some of these ideas and let me know if you found them helpful!

Blogmas day 7!

christmas gift guide!

I have really been struggling this year with what to buy for my mum for christmas. However I have finally put together a few ideas that I have decided to buy for her as well as some other ideas that could come in handy for birthdays or just a treat!

Lush Cosmetics
If you have been reading some of my previous posts you may have noticed how obsessed I am with Lush Bath Bombs. This is something that I am trying to pass onto my mum. She isn't as keen on these as I am but she does like the bath melts and scrubs so she will be having one of these in her stocking! Lush is a really great shop to go to when thinking of bath products and although you can spend a fortune in the shop, the individual prices of one or two are very reasonable.

The Body Shop
Every christmas the body shop always put together great little gift sets including some of their top selling products. I can usually count on my grandparents to put a small gift set like the one I listed above in each of my cousins and my small stocking. The body shop are doing a really cute gingerbread man theme at the moment which is really in trend with all of the christmas stores themes this year! (I also secretly can't wait for the shops to put some of these items into the sales in the new year!)

Pandora
Every year me and my brother have always bought my mum a pandora charm and this year is no different. The new collection of christmas 2013 charms were put onto their website a couple of weeks ago and I must admit I am a little bit in love with the mittens charm. Although these charms can be a little pricey there are some other less expensive charms that you can buy which I feel look just as nice.

Next
When buying anything for my mum clothes wise next is always the number one place that I go to. We have quite a big Next in my hometown and in my nearest retail shopping centre so we are always going into there. Next is also one of them shops that does on trend stuff at affordable prices. Although the clothes are relatively cheap they are really good quality. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I had found my favourite pair of leggings EVER in Next and ever since then I kind of rely on Next for decent outfits! They are also doing some cute christmas themed jumpers this year which I really want to buy for myself let alone for my mum!

Zara
Zara is another one of them stores which I have a fling with now and then. At the moment Zara is really overpriced for what I can afford therefore I haven't been in it as much. My mum mentioned the other day that she really wanted a lovely warm winter scarf. A few bloggers have reviewed some of their thick double sided woollen scarves so I thought that I would have a look and have bought one of these for my mum. Fingers crossed she likes it!

Hope you liked some of the picks I have found and let me know which ones are your favourite!
Happy Christmas

University Fashion

At the moment I am sorting through my clothes and deciding on new things to buy which I can wear to university. Three of my favourite high street shops to shop in at the moment is 'NEXT', 'ZARA' and 'TOPSHOP'.

Tan Leather Loafers £45 (NEXT)- I love these shoes as they look very smart as well as comfortable. I think that they will look really nice with tights and a cute winter dress and a coat also.

Lace Dress £55 (NEXT)- This dress looks lovely and really smart. I love the detailing and would wear it with a cute winter coat, tights and boots also!

Black Dress £46.00 (TOPSHOP)- I love the fit of this dress as it really flatters the body shape. This is a product that I will be buying with my student card!

Scallop Shorts £32.00 (TOPSHOP)- I have tried this on in the store and love the way that the shorts fit. Although they are quite expensive for a pair of shorts, I really like the way that the shorts look.

Lipstick 'Velvet Pillow Talk' £8 (TOPSHOP)- This colour is perfect for my skin tone and will look lovely as a natural daytime look!

White Short sleeved shirt £59.90 (ZARA)-zara is really one of my obsessions lately and I love all the way that the clothes fit and look smart and very feminine!

Hooded Wool Coat £79.99 (ZARA)- I am really in love with this coat and am going to purchase this as soon as I have saved up enough!

Pleated Skirt £39.99 (ZARA)- This skirt is so lovely and although has the colour that is perfect for the summer with a pair of tights it can look gorgeous!

Mini Office City Bag £29.99 (ZARA)- This is a perfect size for the days when I do not need to bring a lot of bits with me!

So there is a roundup of some of my favourite things for the new year! Let me know which ones you like also!
