May Birchbox Review!

It's about that time in the month, when I share my latest discoveries in beauty thanks to my subscription to Birchbox! 

First of all, I will admit I probably should have taken a picture of the box before I destroyed it by scratching off all the silver detail, but look how cute it is! This months box was based around being for the dreamers. If you scratched off the top of your box and were one of the lucky two then you won a holiday! For me, unfortunately, this was not the case so I guess I am still dreaming! Before receiving this box, we were able to choose one of the products that went inside which made me as excited as ever when this came in the post!

 In the middle of last month we were asked to choose which Spectrum makeup sponge it was that we would like to receive. You could either pick the pink sponge, which is for applying makeup to forehead, cheeks and chin, OR the purple sponge, which is for applying foundation and concealer around the nose and eye. I went for the purple one as I feel that I will  be able to get more use out of it. I am so excited to try it as I love a good beauty sponge! 

The first surprise goodie I recieved in my box was the LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Empress Me RRP £8. I love this kind of product where you can apply it using the product and then rub it in using fingers. It makes the makeup process so easy and is going to be perfect for my holiday makeup bag! Next I recieved the Philip Kingsley PK Prep Polishing Balm RRP £18.50. If you read my last Birchbox post you might have noted me saying that I am feud of receiving hair products in these boxes as I think they are an easy filler! However I am keen to try this on the ends of my hair as they are looking a little bit dry and to be honest it could do a cut! Then I got the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet RRP £23.00. I am so excited to try this out! I have heard some amazing things about the company off of other bloggers and you tubers but never knew where to get my hands on it. This product says it is going to Hydrate, reduce redness and instantly smooth skin. That sounds like all good things to me! Next was Puriskin Resurfacing Formula RRP £13.99. Again this product pretty much says it all. It's a cream that comes in a cute little tube. You can use this on the face and the body so it makes it a perfect handbag essential! Finally we were given a teeny tiny sample of the Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream RRP £19.50. This is another cream that you can pretty much apply everywhere. It states that it can be used on lips, legs and anywhere you have dry skin. Again this sounds amazing in the run up to the summer holidays! 

Finally a good Birchbox delivery! I will not be the last to say that I have felt disappointed in the boxes that I had received in the past couple of months. I was constantly being sent hair products which left me feeling rather frustrated! I am glad that I recieved a better selection this time!

Birchbox March 2016 Box!

It has only taken about 3 years of blogging, but I have finally signed myself up to the beauty box franchise! After a couple of nights browsing what other beauty boxes have to offer I finally decided on Birchbox. (It may have had something to do with the first box student discount!)
I have always been a little bit sceptical about paying a monthly subscription for something that is so risky to whether you will like what is inside but I am really impressed! (To be honest this whole process has taken me back to the claire's accessories £5 goody bag days!)

This month's March Birchbox is designed around the idea of 'you'. As a Fashion and Textile design student I love a good print! So the front of the box is amazing to me! There is also a little competition to find all of the words on the front of the box which makes the box appear more fun to me! The box is also the perfect size for my university pro-markers so I know that I am going to have a use for this afterwards!

When you open the box you are greeted with a gorgeous little drawstring bag filled with all of the products. This is a cute little feature of the box I think as it makes you feel like the company have really thought and taken time to protect the items. I also love that the leaflet gives you full product information as well as how to use each item! So let's see what was inside my box this month...

Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm £11 - FULL SIZE PRODUCT

The first thing this month comes is this colour changing Arrow lip balm. The product itself doesn't really have much of a scent which is the only thing that lets it down, but it really does work! I have already worn this a couple of times when wanting to have a little bit of colour on my lips, but nothing as heavy as a lipstick. My brother's girlfriend also received this in her box and found that it goes a deep pink on her. On me it goes a little bit lighter and more discreet. I kind of like how it looks! An added bonus is that this is a full sized product! 

ModelCo More Brows £13 - FULL SIZE PRODUCT 

I have to admit when it comes to doing my makeup I hardly touch my brows. A couple of years ago I discovered the Maybelline Brow Drama and loved it, however I could never really find the perfect colour. When I saw online that this product was a possibility in the box I really hoped that I would receive it! I have used it once so don't really have a full review for it yet, but I am loving it so far! Like above, this is also a full sized product! 

Spectrum Collections Tapered Powder Brush £7.99 - FULL SIZE PRODUCT

I have to be honest as soon as I opened the box and saw this brush I yelped with excitement! I have seen these mermaid like brushes all over Instagram but never really felt the need to buy one to add to my brush collection. I am over the moon that I am now going to be able to have Insta worthy shots! 

Rituals T'ai Chi Foaming Shower Gel £8.50

I have to admit this was probably the item in the box that I was the least excited about receiving. I am always up for trying new products but I don't think I will have much use with this as I always tend to have a bath rather than a shower. With that being said it could be nice to throw into my swimming bag to use during the week in the gym showers! Anything beats the coconut one that they use there! 

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle £18.50

This is so exciting to receive, especially after getting some GHD's for my birthday! (I promise a 21st birthday haul is coming soon!) This product is a leave in conditioner which you spray into damp hair after washing first with shampoo. This leaves your hair feeling smooth and shiny! I think it also adds a layer of protection to the hair when using hot tools! 

Number 4 Lumber d'hiver Reconstructing Masque £36

I have never ever tried a hair mask before. I guess I never really understood how they worked or why you would need to use one. So I am excited to try this out and to see what I think!

Have you ever tried a beauty box before? I am really loving the idea of receiving some new products each month that I may or may not have previously heard of. I still do have that worry that I am going to hate everything that I receive though! Fingers crossed I don't! I am planning to have this post as a monthly edition to my blog, so hopefully you enjoy seeing what I get!

January Favourites!

Can you believe that tomorrow is going to be the beginning of February? It seems like yesterday we were celebrating Christmas! I am excited for February though, as I am going to be celebrating my 21st Birthday! Ahh exciting times! This post is going to be a little roundup of all of my favourite things I have used in January. Enjoy!

Who doesn't love to sit down and watch a Disney movie? There is something so relaxing and comforting about drinking a cup of tea with a film on, forgetting about all the other hundred things that I am supposed to be doing. I own pretty much all of the Disney classics now as I have been collecting them over the past couple years. Surprisingly I didn't have these! I love Snow White. It was the first Disney movie that I ever watched so I really enjoyed reminiscing on my childhood this month.

This is a bit of a weird favourite to have but is something that has honestly helped me over the past year. Bach Rescue Remedy spray. If you are struggling with anxiety or have general worries then you really should try this spray. I have had anxiety since being very little, but think that in the past year I have began to understand that what I was feeling wasn't normal and that I can do things about that to make myself feel better. I was recommended to use this spray from a lady who I was talking to about my anxiety. It has been a life saver. It doesn't make you forget about things, but it just makes you feel a lot calmer. I don't know, it works for me! I am currently trying out the night spray to see if that makes a difference to my sleeping habits, as I have recently struggled to settle down for the night. We will see if it works!

My brothers girlfriend bought me this set of 4 mini perfumes from Victoria Secret for Christmas. I absolutely love how cute they all look! There isn't one that I don't like either, which is often not the case when you buy a gift set! They are the perfect size to pop into a clutch bag too and fit nicely in my uni bag for touchups on the go!

Since Christmas I have been reaching for a more muted lipstick. Over the festive holidays I really wore out my dark lip so I love that I can put this on without worrying about smudging and staining! This is Pink Plaid by MAC and is a matte finish. It is my perfect nude and I have worn it pretty much every day. 

The two little jewellery favourites that I have been loving recently come in the form of these super cute Minnie Mouse earrings that I was gifted for Christmas, and this simple bar rose gold necklace that I purchased the other day. I just love the earrings though, they were bought for me in my most favourite place ever...Disneyland Paris! The necklace was from Primark and was £1.50 complete bargain!

My final favourite and complete highlight of this month has to be The Lion King. The Lion King has always been one of the theatre shows that I have wanted to see, but always been either too expensive or just not the right time to go. I was over the moon when my dad told me that we were going! We try to go to see something up in London once a year as a family. I can't recommend seeing this show enough! Everything from the costumes, to the staging is spot on. The singing is amazing and the dances are incredibly talented! I can't wait to go back and see it again!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 

I can't be the only one who thinks that this year has gone by extremely fast! 

Christmas seems like a distant past and I am already counting down to my 21st birthday in February. 2015 turned out to be quite a stressful year for me. My anxiety decided it would take a chance to say a big HELLO in my life, and my family has gone through some health issues which thankfully are all ok now! I am determined to make 2016 my year. I have so many exciting things to look forward to including my 21st birthday and a dream trip to America in the summer! I am also planning to concentrate on getting fitter this year. Physically and mentally! (Lets be honest I just want to feel comfortable wearing what I want on holiday! haha!) Anyway, I thought I would do a little bit of a reflective post today! Last year I made some resolutions. Some I kept, some I didn't! Enjoy! 

- Be Happy. - Sadly I feel like I failed on this one. I had times of great happiness, but I also had times of despair where I felt like things were never going to be the same again. This year I am going to be focusing on making myself better. I started this over the past couple of weeks, but I need to relax and chill more often. 
- Smile More. - Like above I need to try to make more time to smile. I take life far to seriously sometimes that I forget to smell the roses! 
- Make healthier decisions. - I have certainly done this! I have lost a lot of weight this past year by eating properly at the right times. We have recently signed up to 'Hello Fresh', so we haven't had the wrong sort of food in the cupboards! This has certainly done me favours. 
- Read. - Yet again I haven't made time to read! I completed a two week work experience where I was travelling on the tube so wasn't able to have internet connection (alas first world problems!), but I read a whole book! haha. 
-Design.- My little business that I started at the end of last year is still going well. I have been lucky enough to have done a couple of fairs over the christmas period, and have constantly sold cards and frames which has given me a little income. I am hoping to continue this again this year! 

This year's resolutions are the same as above as well as.. 

Be fitter! 

Get out more! 

Make time for myself! 

Work on my photography!
