London Fashion Week: Peter Jensen SS17

Yesterday, I was lucky to start my day by viewing the gorgeous new 'Rhoda' collection at the Peter Jensen London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2017, show held at the ICA Carlton House Terrace. The show's backdrop was beautiful too, with a white greenhouse and small bouquets directly infront for the models to pose with. This theme reflects Jensen's love for gardening and the room smelt amazing too! The press release for the show pays tribute to Lady Rhoda Birley, and a photograph of her appearing eccentric is a clear inspiration. 'In the image, she steps into the flower bed with a monstrous pair of secateurs, corduroy trousers hiked up to her stomach, a chunky green cardigan handing open over a turquoise one. There's a purple scarf around her neck, a pink one tied around her head, and on top of all that sits a rustic straw hat at an angle best described as jaunty'

The focus of Jensen's Rhoda collection was on 'eccentricity, particularly the combination of the practical with the fantastic - note the shirts become dresses with the help of a massive frill, or by engulfing a flounced dress shape in their front panel.' One of my favourite looks from the collection was a yellow gingham shirt dress, with green socks, white clogs and a wonky yellow straw hat. I love this reference to Rhoda, as it is quite simple yet very striking. Amongst circle cut sweatshirts and blown-up ginghams, are delicate sheep with a charming print of hills to represent the English countryside.

I really enjoyed viewing this collection and loved the designs that were on display. Even if it did mean a questionable sock/sandal combo! I'm not sure that would work other than at Fashion Week!

What do you think of the collection? Any stand out pieces?

Lots of love,
