Sleeping Beauty inspired makeup look!

Before I start this post I wanted to comment on how nervous (and weirdly excited) I have been to upload this!. If you know me I am not one to take 'selfies'. I am also not someone that enjoys being infront of the camera, I much prefer being behind it which is why I am not seen often in my blog photos. Part of my 'new year, new me' plan was that I wanted to get back into actually enjoying blogging and using it as a form of documenting my journey with beauty and fashion, as well as having something to look back on in the future. Anyway enough rambling...

I have decided to start a little series on my blog where I will be picking a disney character and using their look/personality to inspire a makeup look.

Since seeing the film Maleficent I have been OBSESSED with Sleeping beauty. I loved the look of Aurora in the movie, as well as the look in the classic version of the fairytale. I have used products that you can mainly get in the high street and are in the cheaper price range. Hope you enjoy!

*A LITTLE DISCLAIMER- I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGISE FOR MY NAILS I TOTALLY FORGOT HOW RUBBISH THEY WERE!.. (btw if your interested its Ciate Pillow fight lol)

(This is the image that I am using for my inspiration!)
First of all I applied Benefit Porefessional makeup primer and rubbed this in with my fingers.
I then used my Nanshy 4 in 1 blending sponge to blend in the L'oreal paris Nude Magique Eau de Teint foundation. I use shade 100 Porcelain. I used the rounded side of the sponge as it feels comfortable to hold when blending this in.
I then used the pointed side of my Nanshy blending sponge to tap in my Rimmel London Wake me up concealer. I don't know what shade this is as the label has come off!
To set the concealer and foundation I have used my Rimmel London stay matte pressed powder.
I then used Hoola by benefit to add a little bit of colour back to the skin. I applied this as a contour and on my cheek bones.
I then used my MUA Undress me too palette and the shade Lavish on my brows. I only used this lightly as I didn't want to fill them in too much. I then used my Maybelline Brow Drama to set this as well as add a little bit of more definition.
I curled my eyelashes next before applying any eye makeup.
I then used my Urban decay naked 2 palette and the shade Bootycall all over my lids. In the picture it looked like there was a light colour and then a brown in the crease. This eye look is totally wearable and something that I do daily. I then used the W7 in the nude eyeshadow palette and the matte brown shade in the crease. Before blending it all out with a fluffy brush.
In the picture the lash line looked dark. I am usually not one for eyeliner so wasn't brave enough to go for liquid, however I wanted to darken it slightly so decided to use Blackout from the Naked 2 palette again to add a little bit of colour to the lash line. I really like the effect of using black eyeshadow as it creates a more wearable, natural look.
Finally I used Benefit Roller lash. I used this the other day and wasn't completely blown away with it. For some reason today it totally worked and I was so impressed with it. This is Benefits most recent product that has been launched and like many Benefit products there was a lot of hype behind it. I am really happy with the length it gave to my lashes as I am not one for falsies!
This is the completed eye look. As you can see the mascara really has lengthened the lashes!
I then applied Elizabeth Arden Sunblush 06 to my cheeks to add a subtle hint of blush. I really love this blush. More recently I have tended to skip the whole blush step seeing as I have a natural blush from the cold in the winter but if I do happen to want to use something this is what I tend to go for. I then applied a highlighter from the sleek face form light 373 palette.
To finish off the look I decided to use a dark pink lipstick rather than a red one. For some reason I have never really been a BIG fan of red lipstick. Perhaps its because I haven't found the one that is right for me yet. The combo I have used is so affordable and probably not what you would expect.
Both lip products are from Marks and Spencers... I know what you are thinking I was a little surprised about it as well and would probably favour this over my MAC lipstick. Anyway the lip liner is in 'pink' and the lipstick is in Amethyst. In terms of wear, it lasts all day. With most lipsticks and lipliners touch ups are necessary but it is totally worth it. It also smells so good!
This is my finished Sleeping Beauty inspired makeup look.

I hope you enjoyed this post and are looking forward to more posts like this coming soon. I am excited to finally have more time to take pictures and although I found it a little tricky with taking these pictures by myself I am really proud of the outcome!

As always thanks for reading!
