YSL Pure Chromatics Review!

Every year after Christmas I go shopping at the sales, and every year I buy things that I do not need. This is one of those items, although I am glad that its in my life! I was walking through House of Fraser with my mum and we noticed that YSL had a couple of items in their sale. So I went to look and returned with this little gem. It was £19.50, reduced from £40 odd pounds. I immediately fell in love with the packaging and the colours. This palette is number 6 in the Pure Chromatics wet and dry eyeshadows collection. You can create two different looks with each colour. A dry look which is more subtle, or an edgier look using water which is much bolder. The palette comes with two double ended brushes as well. One for the dry application and one for the wet application.
The whole packaging of the product is stunning. YSL have used the classic golden casing which is like a little mirror.
The colours in the palette are a forest green, gold, pink and purple. I love all of the colours, however I feel like I am not going to get much use out of the green shade as it isn't really a colour that I would use, however this may change!

It is clear to see that the colour payoff isn't as strong dry than it is wet. I didn't use a primer on my hand before applying them so this may make a change. I can say though that when I applied it and left it for a couple of minutes it did seem to set on my hand. When I wiped over them they smudged slightly but not as much as other eyeshadows that I own do. I used this palette on New years eve and it lasted the whole evening and way into the early hours of the next morning (there was a lot of eye rubbing going on too!).
Overall I really love this palette. It is my first palette brought from YSL and it has really impressed me. I would love to try out some of the other colours as well. I will never use the brushes provided but who does? It is a handy little palette to have in my makeup bag as I feel it can give you both daytime and evening looks. It is one that I think I am going to use a lot!
Let me know what you think of the palette in the comments, or if there is anything from YSL that you think I should try out!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I've never heard of this before, the idea of wet eyeshadow sounds strange but I'm intrigued! The green shade is so beautiful, you'll be able to create some lovely looks with this palette x

    1. I hadn't heard of it either but it just stood out when I walked into the shop. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but for £19.50 I decided to treat myself!
